White Mountain Century

Hi riders!

We’re preparing for the Casco Bay Bicycle Club’s 2010 White Mountain Century and look forward to you joining us! The weather has been beautiful this summer and we’re expecting that trend to continue into September. The weather service shows averages for that day, Saturday, September 18, with the high of 70 degrees and low of 44 degrees. If this weekend’s 90-degree temps are any indication, we might hit the record high for that day (85 degrees), hopefully we won’t be anywhere close to the record low (35 degrees).

Regardless of the weather, the WMC is always an epic adventure and a beautiful way to spend some time with your friends out on the road. We’re bringing all of your favorite foods, too. Dark chocolate brownies at every stop, potatoes at Rest Stop 3, and, of course, shrimp at the end! Our lovely volunteers will also be on hand to make your experience an awesome one!!

You still have a few days left to save some money by registering early (submissions must be postmarked August 31, 2010)!! Early registration is $17.00; registration as of September 1 is $25.00. Click here for the WMC registration form.

Even if you don’t register early, we would ask that you complete your registration form beforehand and bring it with you, and did I mention we LOVE exact change on ride day! Thanks for helping us streamline the registration
process as much as possible to get you out on the road promptly!

NOTE: We’ve been advised by the National Forest Service to expect increased traffic, particularly on the Kancamagus Highway. They have asked us to stress to riders the importance of riding single file, particularly on the busy Kanc, where a number of accidents have occurred (luckily, none involving bicycles, and we want to keep it that way). Reports from this weekend confirm the higher than normal traffic on the Kanc, something we simply point out to keep our riders safe!

See you all in three weeks! Please let us know if you need anything beforehand! Cheers!
