The annual CBBC potluck banquet is scheduled for February 27 barring any unforeseen events – major snowstorm (6 feet or more) or funeral at the First Parish Congregational Church in Gorham! Show up after 5 p.m. and be ready to eat at 6 p.m.!
Entertainment for the evening will be the showing of the movie The Bicycle Corps: America’s Black Army on Wheels, which tells of the recollections of two African-American riders, an enthusiastic white officer and a black first sergeant who were part of the US Army’s experiment in the 1890’s to replace horses with popular new “safety bicycles.” The army sent 20 African-American soldiers on a 2000-mile ride from Fort Missoula, Montana to St. Louis, Missouri.
